A Big Welcome to You!

With great joy and excitement we welcome you to our website! We are so glad that you have stopped here and we invite you to explore its content just a bit! Within its pages you will discover a friendly congregation that genuinely cares about those who attend as well as those who visit. For Jesus’ own practice in the Bible was always to issue an invitation to come to Him with all that has burdened us – our pains, our frustrations, and yes, our sins – that He might bring redemption, forgiveness, and peace into our lives.

Along with the invitation to explore our website we also extend a warm invitation to you to visit us for a church service or a Bible study. During those experiences you will discover a rich tradition that is deeply grounded in the Word of God. They are opportunities to step out of the world for a moment and into God’s rich grace. As one person recently said about our Bible Study, “When I come here I don’t want to leave. It’s so incredible!” And so, with that sentiment in mind we welcome you to St. Luke’s with the prayer that God richly blesses you! Thank you for stopping by!

OUR FORTE!

“Forte,” means a “person’s strong point, talent, or skill. In music it means “the direction to play loudly!”

At St. Luke’s our “forte “is the Word of God! You will encounter powerful Bible Studies and sermon presentations that won’t put you to sleep nor give you the culture’s messages.

You will be taken deeply into the Holy Bible and it’s theology! Come expecting to encounter Jesus and to grow in the faith!

Our current Bible Studies take place Sunday morning after Divine Service from 10:30AM to 11:30AM Our Thursday morning Bible Study takes place from 10:00AM to 11:AM. Wonderful refreshments are served at both!

New member classes are also held as needed to introduce you to the Christian faith. This is usually a series of classes that cover the items in Luther’s Small Catechism.

OUR PASTOR

Permit us to introduce our pastor to you!

His name is Edward H. Schmidt and he has been serving St. Luke’s since 2019. He is a 1985 graduate of Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska where he majored in history and theology. From there his studies took him to Concordia Theological Seminary in Ft. Wayne Indiana where he majored in systematics. Upon graduating from the seminary he served congregations in southern Nebraska, northern Iowa, as well as western Colorado.

Pastor Schmidt is married to his wife Mary who also graduated from Concordia University with a Lutheran Teacher’s degree. She has taught in schools that were started in their own congregations as well as some outside of the Lutheran system. Over the years, God blessed them with four children, one son and three daughters, two of them are in the medical fields, while two are in financial fields. They deeply cherish their family especially with the rather sudden arrival of seven grandsons who keep them busy and ever entertained! Their lives reflect the joy of Psalm 127:3-5, “Children are a heritage from the LORD… blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them.”

“ Anyone who is to find Christ must first find the church. How could anyone know where Christ is and what faith is in him unless he knew where his believers are? ”
